Magic happens when the right things come together. For us that was a love of frozen treats, the desire to eat REAL food, and a great dog named Rocko.
Rocko's was founded in 2013 to serve carefully crafted and custom-made ice cream tacos using high quality, locally sourced, and organic ingredients; all wrapped up in one cute, little package. What started as a small ice cream cart eventually expanded into an ice cream taco truck and in Spring 2018, we opened our first brick-and-mortar store in Santa Clara, CA. Don't worry though, we still take the truck out regularly and can bring the ice cream taco cart to your next party!

Founder & owner Lori Phillips is an SF Bay Area native. She graduated from UC Santa Cruz (go Banana Slugs!) and then Stanford University with her PhD in Immunology in 2012. With a passion to recreate a childhood favorite, Lori traded in her lab coat for an apron. No need to call her Doctor Phillips though, she's just Lori at work. She still enjoys experimenting (albeit in a very different setting!) and talking all things chemistry and biology.
Rocko is a spunky Malti-chi, with a deep love of waffle chipz (this is what we call left over waffle cone bits & you can grab some for your pup in store!) and playing ball. His brother Ace, the inspiration behind our "Ace Cream Cake Pops," is a moody but forever-loyal mini Dachshund (can you spot him?!)

Our carefully crafted ice cream tacos bring together everything we missed about our childhood favorite, without all the junk we prefer to leave behind— all the artificial colors, flavors, and preservatives. We partner with local producers to source high-quality, organic ingredients, and strip away excess sugar and unnecessary ingredients whenever possible.
We hand make our waffle taco cones, fill them with one (or two!) house-made ice creams, then dip them into a chocolate or peanut butter coating. And while we believe in transparency in our food system, a little bit of smoke and mirrors seems fitting for this product: the (not so) secret final "ingredient" is a dip into liquid nitrogen to bind all of the goodness (without any of the mess). And that first bite is... MAGIC.
